Corrosion has caused the paint to flake off around the base of my raw water pump. There is no apparent leak and the impeller and top seal are in good condition, I don't know how the shaft is sealed. When I change the zinc, I put Teflon tape on the pipe thread, reasoning that the metal will cut through and allow current to pass. It seems to work, in the sense that the zinc corrodes away over several months. However, I can measure a few ohms resistance between the brass plug head and the engine block. ...

What position should this screw be in when engine is running? I ask because we occasionally have revs drop for a few seconds. I am guessing some air getting into system, but canot find where.
