Seawater Cooling - Vacuum Breaker

Hello,

I am finally installing the 37HP engine that I bought several years ago, unfortunately the high rise exhaust manifold will not fit in the space available.  I can modify the manifold and use a loop with a vacuum breaker on the sea water discharge hose.  The only vacuum breaker that I can find that has a high enough temperature rating is a ITT Hoffman No. 62.  Do you have any suggestions? Do you sell one?  Also is a Vernalift Muffler considered a waterlock or should I install a waterlock in addition to the existing Vernalift.  If so, would be installed up or downstream of the Vernalift.

Thanks,
Warren

Hello Warren,
The Vernalift muffler is a waterlock muffler and if the size is correct for the length of exhaust system, it will suffice on its own. Remember to make sure that you have a high loop at the stern just before the exhaust thru-hull or use one of our exhaust goosenecks (se the exhaust page of our website).

The high rise exhaust elbow is a stainless fabrication and any good welding shop should be able to modify it for you to suit your installation. Make sure that you wrap the dry part of the riser to keep the het in the exhaust.

We do sell the Scott Valve anti siphon valve and these are $71 each and we do have these in stock (this is for the 7/8" size).
Regards,
Stanley
