Pearson 35

I own a 1975 Pearson 35.  It now has a Farymann R-30 that is showing some signs of wear.   A new 1" shaft was installed  this year.  and also a new 3 blade prop.  Which Beta engine would be correct for this vessel?  I would also like a 100 amp alternator.   Would like to boat to cruise at 6 to 7 knots.   Will It fit directly to the engine bed?

Hello. Is this the Bill Shaw designed boat with the centerboard? If so the Beta 28 will do the job that you want and we can fit the 100 amp alternator to it. Your shaft should be fine but expect to replace the propeller as the B28 and R30 have completely different characteristics.

I have not seen a P35 with a Farymann installed. Usually these boats have either an Atomic 4 or Westerbeke 30. We can however provide the Beta 28 on 20" mounts to replace the Farymann but before we do this, you will need to make some basic measurements to ensure that the new mount brackets will suit. Here is the link to page for the special mounts http://www.betamarinenc.com/Special%20feet%20details.pdf page 3 of this pdf is the page with the measurements that need to be filled in.

Regards, Stanley
