What is this relay

We are tied up at the port of san Blas down in Mexico and since I am weeks away from being able to get replacement parts for my soaked engine I have been taking all connections apart and cleaning them as well as lubricating them. There is a relay with a red/white and brown/white 2.5mm as well as some small wires wires attached to it that is not in my engine schematic,. It is clipped to a bracket under the starter motor.
This is a BD1005 engine # 7L7777.

Any thought on its purpose?

Thanks,
Arjan Bok

Hello Arjan,
This relay would be a starter relay. I suspect that this is the engine with the very long harness to the panel so a relay was fitted to stop a big voltage drop which would eventually hurt the starter motor.
Regards, Stanley
