water temp sender

I would like to re-use a water temperature gauge that I have from a 5411 diesel.

If I get the ABV panel which just has a light & buzzer for water temp,

1)can I hook up a temp gauge?

2)Or does this require a different sender?

3) And if it does require a different sender can they be purchased from Beta?

thanks.

Hello friendlobster,

Engines that use the ABV panel do not have a temp sender. They have a temp switch.

The temp switch closes and triggers an alarm when the temp exceeds specification. The temp switch will not work with a gauge.

All temp gauges must be matched to a compatible sender.

I do not know what gauge you have so I cannot advise on sender sources.

While it is possible to fit an aftermarket temp gauge, the sender must be able to be fit into an available water jacket port on the engine.

I do not know which sender you will require so I cannot answer as to whether it will fit an available port or if a port will be even available.

Engine model and whether you have added the optional water heater fittings to the engine will determine water jacket port availability.

the engine is will be a Beta 16. No optional water heater fittings will not be ordered. i have the sender as well as the gauge.
So I guess the question is if one orders the Beta 16 with the ABV panel is there another port available?
thanks

Hello,

There will be a 1/8" BSP threaded port available.

As I do not know the physical size of the particular sender that you have, I cannot guarantee a fit.
