Alternator wiring

I have a Beta 30 w/ 100 A alternator.  I am wiring my boat so that the cranking battery and the house bank are isolated.  The alternator will not be attached to the starter or the cranking battery directly - the cranking battery is being charged with a battery combiner.  There are 3 wires coming from my stock 100A alternator - the output which is connected to the house bank, and 2 two small wires (D+ and W).  Looking at the wiring diagrams in the manual, I am assuming the W is for the tach, and D+ is for the alarm.  How do I modify the wiring at the panel so I retain these two functions.

Hello and welcome to the forum. You don't need to modify the panel. What you need to do is move the small brown / white wire that is connected to the starter solenoid along with the alternator output cable and positive battery cable and move this wire to the alternator output terminal (B+). This will insure that the panel gets the correct voltage and that the gauges and alarms work properly.

This wire has the 40 amp fuse in it and goes through terminal 1 on the multi pin plug from the engine harness to the panel.

Thanks so much. Just to clarify (your explanation mentions 3 wires), move the brown/white wire from the starter to the B+ (output) on the alternator. Is this the sense wire? I spend way too much time last night looking at the manual, but it does not include a real schematic of the panel so I found it pretty much impossible to figure out. Again, thanks!

This wire provides power to the panel.
