Alternator bracket bolt

 Hi,

We have a Beta 38 hp motor with duel alternators installed by the factory before we took delivery of the motor. The alternator on the right facing the front of the motor has a bolt running through the bracket at the bottom of the bracket as shown in the picture. It runs through the entire length of the bracket to the back under the alternator. It seems to have loosened up so I added or replaced a missing nut and lock washer on the other end.

The nut was a sae that we put on the bolt [all we had]. The sae nut seemed to screw on fine.

So my question is, is this bolt really a sae bolt?

Also the bolt did not go completely through the nut with a lock washer included.

Was there a nut on the end of the bolt and if so did it have a lock washer?

The other alternator has a little different set up with the bracket.

Thanks,

Chip
