Coolant Loss on a Beta 16

    I am loosing coolant from my beta 16. I feel like its going into the bilge but i can't find a leak in the hoses anywhere. Yesterday with a cooled engine (I had not run it) i pressure tested the system including the cap. It held 15lbs for 20 minutes. No air leak. Yet after I run her hard, say 2800rpms for 35 minutes I lose a qt. from the resevoir, which is mounted at the correct height. I have 50 hours running time on the motor. Can you suggest where I am most likely to find the leak?

Hello Joe,

This sounds like you have one of the following problems;
1) leak from the hose connections for the recovery tank
2) pressure cap not holding the correct pressure or
3) the surface of the coolant filler neck that the outer seal of the pressure cap seals onto is compromised. This can happen if someone stands on the pressure cap during installation.
Please let us know what you find.

Stanley

Thanks I will run her tonite and look for lesks.
I tested the cap with rad tester it held nicely. I'll look carefully at the filler neck for damage. Would like to have a full tech manual. Like to call today later.
Thanks Stanley,
Joe B
