This is a 2019 installation in an Albin 27 with a Beta 50 w/TMC60 and Python-Drive, less than a 100 hours to date. Overall everything is working fine.
Have always been sensitive to noise and have insulated & reinforced the boat to get the noise level down to 76db at 2000 rpm just above the engine compartment. One pesky sound that has been around since the beginning is a ticking/clicking noise emanating from the transmission area. It is there in F/N/R and increases with RPM. It first was quite evident in the Morse control head. I ended up adding the Morse rubber connectors on the throttle and trans engine connections, this greatly reduced the sound. This year the sound seems more elevated coming from the engine compartment and nearby scupper. It might be because of other recent sound reduction modifications and I'm just hearing it for the first time from this location.
Cruising at 2000 rpm it is hardly discernable, once down to the 1600-1700 rpm range it then becomes evident. Am curious if this ticking/clicking is normal or if there are other things I should be looking into?
Understood. In this situation I'm looking for some general guidance and education if possible.
To further help in the description this noise could also be called a consistent high pitch rattle-ringing noise. Using a stethoscope to isolate the source, I found the center point of the rattle is the transmission and specifically just below the oil plug. The rattle is quieter and more removed moving away from this point (connected cables, borg warner adapter, flywheel housing, sides of TMC60, etc). Forgot to add in previous post that the engine is on soft mounts.
My question would be if it is common with TMC60s that a rattle/ringing is to be expected? Could the CV joint and soft mounts be impacting something? Or perhaps there might be some other issue I might consider looking into (like my hearing....)

As you are experiencing a noise in F/N/R it sounds like drive plate rattle, which is quite usual and most times not noticed. Your engine is fitted with a standard drive member which works well and is reliable. Often times when there is a lot of inertia, for example in your system the only flexible element in the drive train is the drive member on the flywheel. Effectively the propeller, shaft, python drive and gearbox internals are all solidly coupled as one mass.
We do have a beefed up drive member available which should you wish to eradicate the ticking. Having said that we are happy with the combination supplied, its your choice whether you would wish to invest in the R type drive member.
This makes sense. Thanks I would be interested in the beefed up drive member (am assuming this to be replacing the existing drive plate, part number 206-91950 "Driveplate 22-B-60"). What is the part number/name/cost of the beefed up replacement? Looks to be a good post season project.

The heavier damper plate is made by Centa. Our part # is 206-02094/01
