I am probably going to replace my Westerbeke W-30 in my 1978 Cal 34. The engine requires a V-drive. What are the implications of connecting to a V-drive? Is there an option to reverse the location of the exhaust?

I am looking to install an engine in my Lyle Hess designed 32' sailboat. She is strip-planked and displaces 10 ton. Is there a big downside to an off-set engine? I was hoping not to cut out my rudder. And how much engine is "too much"? Thanks

Previous engine was Farymann A40. Boat is approx 10,000 lbs. Looking for recommended replacement. Folding 2 blade propeller. Will i need new mount? Will I need new water pump? Will I need new alternator? Will I need new gauges? Any good reconditioned engines available? Dave

I currently use a 2 blade prop and even when its clean I have a pucker factor getting to my sailing grounds, I have to motor into the wi...
