Hello, new member here, we are probably going to repower a 43 Gulfstar as the Perkins 200(4.154) series is becoming obselete and tired. Any suggestions and ideas about the Betamarine line are appreciated. thanks, Saylpal
Hello Saypal, We have had great results using the Beta 60 to replace the Perkins 4.154 in the CSY44. As your boat is more than 10,000lbs lighter than the CSY, it should perform really well. This engine is much quieter than the 4.154 and seems to develop more thrust at the prop according to the boat owners. We can supply this engine on the same width mounts as your Perkins to make the installation as easy as possible.
If you currently have a Borg Warner Velvet Drive, it will pay to keep the same type of transmission (or just have yours freshened up with new seals and plates) as this transmission has a different configuration to the mechanical transmissions. If you have a Hurth, I suggest a new transmission. Regards, Stanley
