I am trying to find a Kubota replacement for my Yanmar 1GM7 for a Dawson Midship 25. So far I have sent several Emails to on line distrubuitors and have no reply. The engine compartment is a tight fit. I would like to upgrade to the 14 hp. Looks like it will fit. I put a 30 A alternator on the Yanmar and it loads the engin to the point that I cannot charge and motor at the same time. The Yanmar moves the boat but not very well in a headwind. Any help on where I can get a dealer to respond with advice and pricing? I Owned a farm for 20 years and have several Kubota tractors I have had no engine problems on any of the tractors. Want to give Kubota a try in my boat. I live in central PA and the boat will be anchored in Anapolis MD Thanks
Hello, I have been away at the Miami boat show, hence the late reply.
I have been involved with the repower of 2 different Parker Dawson 26 center ****pit and there is no problem using the Beta 10 or Beta 14. If you use the Beta 10, you must add the shallow sump (included with standard equipment on the 14). In each case, the standard 2:1 TMC40 transmission was used and there is plenty of power for the little boat. The standard alternator on these engines is a 40 amp unit. The base engine is the Kubota Z482 in each case.
We have a dealer in Norfolk VA who has repowered a Parker Dawson 26. Speak to Mike Monteith of Horizon Marine on 757 676 3376. If the boat is on a trailer it may be feasable to take it to him for the repower. Alternatively we do have some dealers in the Annapolis area (Highlander Diesel and Macaulay boatworks) who can help you locally. There contact info is on our US dealer listing on our website http://www.betamarinenc.com/USdealernetwork.html
