Battery cable size for Beta 28

I'm installing a Beta 28 and in this process changing location of battery and switch.
I will now have a run of 33ft (total Pos and Neg cable).  I'm uncertain how many amps the starter motor draws and therefore the size of battery cable required for the connection.  Any help on this topic? Thank you.

Hello,

I recommend that you mount your starting battery closer to the engine.
You will need 0 size battery cables for such a long run and these are likely to cost you more than the battery.

Hi Stanley,
It wasn't so much the placement of the starting battery but the location of the battery switch.  I wanted to put it in a convienent spot.  I can put battery switch so that the total circuit lenght of 15Ft.  I see in the Beta 28 operators manual that the starting motor could have out put of 1400 watts.  I translated that to a potintial draw of 117 amps for 20 to 30 seconds.  Blue sea has a neat calculator at http://beta.circuitwizard.bluesea.com/# I used to come up with cable size of 3AWG.   I might go bigger because the house load has potential of sustained 100 amp load with run of 17ft.  Does this address adequately loads the engine/charging system will put on electrical system?
Thank you

3AWG will be only just adequate assuming that you never have corrosion and everything remains perfect. Go up in size to be safe.
