Re-powering my Pearson 323

Hi,  I have to replace the MD11C which just died in my Pearson 323.  From all the posts I have read, the Beta 28 is the engine I should use.  What options should I get?

I understand from Stanley's post (June 4, 2009) that I must cut out a piece of the cabin liner to get access.  Ok, I can do that.

Which V-drive do I need?  Will I have to replace my prop?  What else do I need to know?

Thanks for the forum.  It has been a big help even though I am just beginning the work.

Neil

Hello Neil,

I have attached  2 photos of a previous installation. One shows the nearly complete installation. When the upright is made to clip in, the standard access doors are re-used. The other photo where the fibreglass should be cut to keep the cutting (and thus the re-fitting) to a minimum. The entire section of glass that is cut out can be fitted back in one piece on to some wood cleats and kept secure with screws.

The engine bed modification is actually quite simple and more time will be spent measuring before fitting the new beds. We can also supply the aluminum angle for the beds. This will cost about $110.

I recommend the Beta 28 with the ZF15MIV transmission (2.13:1)
add to this the rear facing raw water pump for easy service and the following options;
high rise exhaust elbow
polyvee belt drive (serpentine style belt) for the alternator.

You will need a new shaft and propeller plus a different waterlift muffler, hose, etc.

If you email me directly I can provide pricing.   stan@betamarinenc.com

Regards,
Stanley
