I am also new to this forum, and last winter installed a beta 35, in my boat, everything new from the prop to the key and then some. Love the motor, very smooth, simple. I bought it from Joe DeMers, Sound Marine Diesel in Conn, along with everything I needed plus about 100 lbs of support! I used to be afraid to look in the engine room when I turned the key to the old Renault, to see what was leaking or what needed a band-aid. Maiden voyage from Sandy Hook to Chesapeake smooth, I put around 85 hrs on it. Thanks Beta.... Red
Faron, It is a Jeanneau Ginn Fizz 38". 1977. The old Renault Coach eng was a gamer. I have been sailing this boat 20 years, last five held together with gum. Parts were very difficult to say the least. Every time I started it was a new issue, it was great for a learning experience. Your engine is a dream. I had an issue with the stern tube end of this season and had to pull the boat. Had to pull the shaft to do repair, engine must come out as the rudder skeg is in the way. I had your engine disconnected, used 2x6 across the hatch and lifted onto a dolly configured for the mounts and rolling in my gally in about 2 hrs with a helper. I weighed out the old engine and trans at the junk yard it was close to 1000 lb. Yours is 375# total, and smaller, quieter, more power, I am very happy with the result so far. Keep up the good work......Red
