Repowering my Albin Alpha 29

Hello,

I have installed a new Beta 14, 2.6:1 gearbox (WOC K 25794) this winter.

The boat was originally powered by a Yanmar 1GM10 and I have been running a 15x10.5, two blade folder (propeller blade tip clearance about 1.6 inch).

Particulars for the boat are:  LOA = 29.36', LWL = 23.62', Beam = 9.32' , Draft = 5.41', Displacement = 7275 lbs.

What fixed prop (2-blade and 3-blade) do you advise for the new Beta?

Regards,
Anders

Hello Anders,

Congratulations on the new engine!

With the increase in power and the 2.6 gear ratio a 3 blade propeller will be recommended.

You should find that it will run smoother and will get the power to the water better then a 2 blade prop.

I would suggest a fixed, 3 blade, 15 x 9 prop with a 50-55% blade area. This should work very well with the Alpha and maintain your current tip clearance.
