Belt rubbing on Z482

I installed a BZ482 in my Starwind 27. The engine runs great, but the belt is rubbing on both the cooling hose that runs under the alternator and against the flange where the oil filter screws on. Are there pulley spacers available to move the belt out a little more?

Something is wrong here. Please post a photo showing the belt on the flange near the oil filter plus a general photo of the front of the engine. That will allow us to see what the issue is.

Ok. It will be next weekend before I can snap a photo, but I'll get one posted.

Thank you.

Here's my first problem. The belt just doesn't quite have enough clearance for the hose and the flange where the oil filter screws on. I need a spacer for the pulley or something. It has never eaten through the hose or the belt, but it does make a dusty mess.

My second problem is that the bottom bolt hole in the alternator is larger on the alternator itself than it is in the block. In the two years I've had the motor running, the vibrations have now sheared that bottom bolt in half twice -- this weekend being the second time.

Any ideas if I'm missing pieces or spacers or something here? Do I just have the wrong alternator?

You are missing the spacer that fits between the alternator foot and the timing cover.
Who marinised your engine?

I did it. I found a BZ482 that had visited Davey Jones's locker with only 100 hours on it, so I bought a new Kubota Z482 long block and moved over all the marinized parts. Unfortunately, it wasn't as complete as I thought it was.

Do you have a part number for the alternator spacer?
