Lift pump on beta engine


  • I have a beta13.5 hp in my etap26 has been serviced regularly but has now developed a problem mechanism said that some salt grit had got into the valve of the lift fuel pump he cleaned it and started it and all seemed well but when I tried to start again it took a while then it ran for 40 min and stopped and will not start again he now saye install a new lift pump but at 100 euro I'm reluctant any advice

There may still be some dirt in the fuel system and this will need to be cleaned out properly.

You may also be getting air into the system. Every fitting from the tank to the primary filter/water trap to the engine must be checked properly. 

One easy trick when you have to bleed the fuel is to fit an outboard style primer bulb in the fuel line close to the tank (see attached photo). This makes bleeding the lines extremely and these can be left in the system for future use. They are reasonable priced at about $15 here in the US.
