My control panel was installed in 2007 and has worked fine until now. When I start up the digital hour tachometer either has no readout, a correct readout or a readout where parts of the digits are missing. Did I see somewhere on line that there were faults with these units or is there hopefully a simple solution. To date I have just checked the connections at rear and all appear good.
This has happened before. You may bring the display back if you take the tach out of the panel and off the boat. Put the tach over an airconditioning vent or in a drying cupboard for a day and then re-fit it. Some people have reported complete success with this simple solution.
VDO have since changed the tach design and the new models can be fitted into the old panels.
