Beta 38 air filter cross reference

The Beta number is 21108132 and we live in Mexico so getting parts shipped is chancy and expensive. Is there a NAPA or other common brand I can use to replace my dirty element?

We do not have a cross over number for this filter.
I suggest that you take the used filter to a local auto parts store and ask them to match it up with one from whatever make they supply.

Hi,
So far about a dozen stores and still no filter.
Can it really be this hard to get an air filter?
We have also tried telling them it is from a kubota 38 hp diesel engine with no luck.

We got the Napa number from:

"Use Napa 2135. Good luck. "

Ethan Hirschfeld
H&M Marine Services
Beta Marine West
400 Harbor Dr
Sausalito CA 94965
415-332-3507 Shop
415-793-4498 Cell
415-332-3525 Fax
www.enginerite.com
www.betamarinewest.com

On the Napa site we found Part Number: FIL 2135.

Then we got the Fram number from the Napa number.
On the Fram site we searched for CA8580 and got a list of other suppliers also. Only the Fram site showed a picture of a flat filter. We think that is just a generic picture for air filters though.
Fram CA8580

So here is a list of cross reference numbers for the Beta air filter.

Fram CA8580
Napa 2135.
BALDWIN PA3419
BIG A 93135
CARQUEST 87135
COOPERS AG294
CROSLAND 9173
DONALDSON P606072
DONALDSON P607240
FLEETGUARD AF25530
HASTINGS PA3419
LISTER-PETTER 334402
LISTER-PETTER 361321
LISTER-PETTER 366-07188
LISTER-PETTER 366-11781
LUBER-FINER LAF8097
NAPA 2135
WIX 42135

We tried the Baldwin number PA3419 on the Baldwin site and got what looks like a winner.

Descriptions: Air Element
Fits: Lister Engines
Replaces: Lister-Petter 366-07188
O.D.: 5 7/8 (149.2)
I.D.: 3 7/16 (87.3)
Length: 2 7/8 (73.0)
A. Gskt.: [1] Attached
UPC: 791440052215

So I am thinking the cross reference list is fairly accurate.
Thanks,
Chip

nice to have this list as backup.
Many marine diesels do not use an intake filter, I suppose because they operate in a very low dust environment.
I suspect our engines can run a very long time before the air filter shows significant "dirtiness".
An additional value to having the air filter is the silencing effect it has on the intake of the engine.

Hi,
Our air filter was facing more forward towards the front of the Beta 38. We have duel alternators. I am not sure if it is the alternator brushes or the fan belts but we are getting some black in the filter. We change it out each season. We cruise six months then lay up six during hurricane season. So the fitter gets six months or heavy use. We just put the air filter facing more towards the stern, towards the back and away from the alternators and fan belts. If we can ever find a new filter here we will test this out. As it is we are re-installing the old filter and will have to wait till some cruiser "snow bird" returns from the US to bring us down a couple new filters. Some things are not easy to get here on the main land Mexico.
