Just had a new Beta 25 installed and the rev counter does not return to zero when the engine is off. I am being told this is because it is an electronic gauge. Also the buzzer does not work when the power is turned onto the panel.
The panel is the ABVW keyless panel.
Is this normal or do I have to go back to the installers? to get them to sort is out.
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new engine.
It is quite normal for the tach to not return to 0 with the panel turned off but as soon as the panel is switched on the tach should go the 0 before the engine is started.
When the panel is activated with the engine not yet running, (in your case, pressing the "heat" button activates the panel) you should see the green light on plus the red warning lights for low oil pressure and alternator not charging. When the red lights are on you should also hear the alarm buzzer. After the engine has started, the red lights and alarm buzzer should switch off.
There is a page in the operators manual which provides all this information. If the panel does not work as I have described, please contact the installers and have them correct the situation.
Please note, I have assumed that no changes to the standard Beta Marine wiring (such as additional gauges added) have been made.
Thanks Stanley, It was my mistake and the installer was correct when he informed me about the rev counter. I went for my first tryout with the new engine today and I am really happy with it. Quieter than my previous engine.
I just have to eats lots of Kraft Dinners now to pay for it.
