The install of my new Beta 43 into a Tayana 37 sailboat is complete. Overall things went well, but there are three issues which I think Beta can make some changes/improvements. 1: The lower coolant hose was rubbing against the engine mount shaft, and had to be shortened by about 1 inch at the water pump connection. Picture is attached after the hose was shortened. Beta should check the clearance for this hose. 2: At the raw water pump, it would be nice if Beta offered a 90 degree inlet fitting (like the outlet fitting). The attached picture explains why. I will be fitting a 90 degree elbow on the pump to prevent abrasion wear to the inlet hose. 3: Some of the options for mounting locations for the engine throttle control Teleflex cable need to be closer to the throttle. It was necessary for me to add a Teleflex cable extension in order to reach the throttle (easier for me than drilling new mounting holes). Also, I had to attach the Teleflex cable to the inner connection on the throttle in order to achieve full movement from idle stop to full throttle stop. Picture attached. I know every boat/engine setup is a little different, but the Teleflex cables are standard (I think). I know I am sounding a bit negative, but I am actually very happy with the engine. It runs great!
