For the life of me I can't stop a leak in the 7/8" raw water hose that attaches to the back of the heat exchanger of my Beta43. I've tightened the hose clamp as tight as I can get it and it is still leaking. I'm going to take the hose off and see if there is a defect in the hose. Is this hose a stock item?
There are two hoses that connect to the back end cover of the heat exchanger.
The short one that connects to the water tube from the raw water pump is a stock item.
The one that connects the end cover to the anti siphon valve (or the exhaust elbow) changes from installation to installation and is the responsibility of the installer.
I'm going to take the hose off tomorrow and take a good hard look at it and the barb to see if there is anything that could be preventing the hose from seating. How do I purchase this and the hose for the other end of the pipe. I believe the other end is 1.125", right?
The hose connecting the water tube that goes from the raw water pump to the heat exchanger is a straight piece of 7/8" hose if you have the copper water tube and 1" if you have the stainless tube which is the later build.
I measured the tube at the heat exchanger end (not the water pump end) and it measures 7/8" OD. The approximate 2" straight hose is 7/8" ID. The tube is stainless steel and not copper, so I'm a bit confused regarding your last post.
I forgot to take a picture, but will do so tomorrow and post it.
It took a bit longer to get back to the boat. Here's the pictures of the hose I'm talking about. Also, just to bring it up again, this hose is 7/8" ID and the raw water tube is stainless steel.
Shouldn't this be covered by warranty? It's a brand new engine. I'll take the hose off this week and check to see if it has any issues and get back to you. Thanks!
Since I have an ongoing relationship with the UK people, I reached out with pictures and included you in the email. I believe you are up to speed on the situation. Thanks you!!
