I have a Beta 75 in my Tayana 52. A couple of days ago we were heading out and after fueling up exited the harbor. Within about ten minutes the engine started losing RPM then quit. After checking everything and attempting to prime the engine with no success we were towed back to a marina berth. After replacing all the filters, two Fleetguard 1000s fuel/water separators and the primary engine filter I still could not prime. A new fuel pump and checked every hose and fitting in the fuel system, still nothing. I finally was able to get it started despite not being able to fully prime the engine. Once running I had fuel leaking from the top of the fuel filter housing, around the shaft for the button, which goes through the top of the housing. I am thinking the original engine quitting was caused by air being sucked in to the fuel system around the priming button. Any thoughts on whether this could be the ultimate cause?
The fuel filter base with the priming button is located between the low pressure fuel pump and the high pressure injection pump. When the engine is running, the filter is under pressure.
If the diaphragm of the priming pump has perforated, it would leak fuel when the engine is running. When the engine is not running, it is possible that it is allowing air to enter the fuel filter base and also would not prime properly.
The filter base needs to be replaced. The fuel filter base with primer is a Kubota part and available through Beta marine or any Kubota equipment supplier.

Thanks for that information. I am currently in Borneo, Malaysia so the best source of parts will be a Kubota distributor or dealer. I could not find the part in the Beta Marine parts catalogue and don't know part numbers for Kubota. It seems to be a part which no one lists in online parts catalogs. Any suggestions?
